After witnessing the Lady Bullfrogs winning the state title last month, the male Bullfrogs feel that they have no choice but to win state like the girls.

“I feel that the guys have and want something to prove, but I want them to stay focused and to enjoy themselves,” said head coach Emily Weber.

Team captain senior Cody Morin, who participates in the 100 breast stroke, 200 relay, and 200 relay freestyle believes this year could be a memorable one.

“Everyone is in high spirits, and ready to give their all,” said Morin. Co-team captain senior Jeff Yeabsley is just as confident as his counterpart.

“We will make a run at state,” said Yeabsley. “We have a great bunch of talented swimmers such as [freshman] Andrew Nemeth and the Walker brothers, Jessie and Reed Walker, also Cody and myself.”

Yeabsley states that the swim team’s goal to state will go as planned if everyone is able to stay healthy.

“We have a few swimmers that are hurt, and one of them is going to need surgery and probably will miss the majority of the season,” said Yeabsley.

Ultimately the team’s goal is to win state, but they have one intermediate step: “Win districts while killing the Roosevelt Roughriders,” said Morin.

These goals do not seem out of reach for the Bullfrogs, as every swimmer comes to practice giving 100%. Needless to say that the Bullfrogs are focused on glory with steel determination, and with coach Emily Weber leading the way, expect the boys swim team to give Garfield Fans something to cheer about.
