Student Privacy
When publishing stories and photos about Garfield-related events and topics, we will not include photos or references to students whose parents have specifically informed the school to exclude them from Garfield High School publications.
Information We Gather
The information we gather falls into two categories:
1. Personal information you voluntarily supply when you subscribe to email updates, complete an online survey, register for an online discussion, or provide your e-mail address.
2. Tracking information collected as you navigate through our sites.
Use of Information
The Garfield Messenger will not sell, rent, or share your e-mail address or any information that personally identifies you with any third party without your express permission.
We will not e-mail you unless you have requested it, or have contacted us with a question, comment, or concern. When you submit a comment about a story on our website, an editor may contact you for clarification before posting the comment.
The Garfield Messenger gathers some information automatically via server logs and cookies. This information can include your IP address, operating system, browser type, domain names, access times and referring URLs. We use this information to help streamline our content and to manage incoming links, as well as to understand which features of our site are being used and when.
COPPA — Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
The Garfield Messenger does not knowingly collect or store any personal information, even in aggregate, about children under the age of 13. Our content is targeted at high school students and parents, ages 14 and older. We require parental consent for children under 13 to submit personally identifiable information on our website.
