Prepare yourself; I may make you uncomfortable with my bold honesty concerning sex. How I feel about it and what goes on in the average teenager who chooses to have it. If you are offended by my thoughts, you are reading the wrong section of the paper. Many beliefs are passed down and inherited from family values and morals. Sometimes they are affected or created by religious standings.

When you’re younger, sex is always made a big deal. When there’s a sexual movie scene, your eyes get covered, there’s an age limit on when you should have a boyfriend and it’s always a big deal when parents find out that their kid is sexually active.

As a child I grew up in a Christian home and was taught early on that pre-marital sex was a sin. While this is normal for me, not everyone in the world believes this or practices it. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. So who is anyone with differing beliefs to challenge or discourage someone else’s beliefs? I mention that to confirm that this is not to criticize anyone for their choices but to merely hit the many sides of people’s stories concerning sex.

Oftentimes, virgin girls are labeled as conceited, a good-girl or simply a square. The humor in the ridicule is in the reputation of those who choose to look down upon those who don’t have sex. There always seems to be the group of older kids trying to encourage their younger protégés to follow in their footsteps. It’s almost as though all the sluts want every girl to be one as well and the guys with STI’s (sexually transmitted infections) want other guys to feel the burn too.

Teenage sex seems to be all about being a part of a crowd and being able to say that they aren’t left out and know how it feels. While I’ve been told that sex in marriage has more meaning and passion behind it, the only way to know is to experience it. This is where the change of a mind-set happens — when there is so much hype about a topic, people who may not normally participate do because of its popularity. However, as the saying goes, “to each his own” — everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I’ve heard people say having sex before marriage allows individuals to have a great sex life once they’re married. So in the sense of knowing how one wants things to go, those people who have had sex previously to marriage are able to exceed sexual expectations that they are aware of.

According to Christianity, when two people have sex their souls are then tied together. This results in emotional, mental, and spiritual attachments. When a virgin loses her virginity, because of it being the first time, it is known to be more likely to hold a longer attachment. . From the looks of it, sex has many strings that are pulled other than just enjoying the moment and liking the feeling.

If people do decide that they will be sexually active, I think that there is a way to go about it. Teenagers will make mistakes but some situations should be alleviated and avoided. Even if someone is young, they should be smart about their choices. That way there won’t be any flack to take from other people.

Many adults look down upon teenage sex because many of them feel as though it is something that should come along later in life. With the many pregnancies and the risk of STIs, the risk that comes with teenage sex is high. Either way, the choice is to be made by each person or in no way am I coming down on those who choose to do so.

This topic concerns so many deep aspects of life. Even with attempting to touch all bases, there is still a chance of someone being offended. I will apologize if someone reading this has been offended.
