Summer Movies
Hello, Weblings. We hope all of you are enjoying this ridiculously hot weather. And if not, we’ve discovered the optimal way to forget your temperature troubles: the cinema. Always air-conditioned and laden with frozen refreshments close at hand, could there be a better way to escape the heat? Here are a few summer movies to choose from:
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Who isn’t a fan of getting lost in a mystical world of dragons and wizard warfare? “Harry Potter” did not disappoint with its epic fire battle scenes and the momentous death of a delightful old man.Orphan
Frightening and twisted to say the least, “Orphan” is basically about its namesake except with people being stabbed and beaten to death.I Love You, Beth Cooper
This movie was entertaining and heartwarming. Classic tale of little nerd has the craziest night of his life because he finally admits his love for the head cheerleader in his graduation speech and ends up almost getting mauled by a raccoon while wearing nothing but Spiderman underwear. Just like a fairy tale.Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
There’s nothing quite like watching giant metal extraterrestrials battle in the middle of cities and deserts for two and a half hours. It was dramatic and exciting. Not to mention Shia Labeouf (and I guess Megan Fox too…) is extremely attractive. The Hangover
One of the most ridiculous and hilarious movies ever made. It’s about the aftermath of a bachelor party in Vegas that no one can remember come morning.Public Enemies
Johnny Depp plays legendary criminal John Dillinger as he runs from the FBI with friends Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd, and does not fall short of the necessary levels of badass.Posted by Cally Shine & Kelley Hargus on August 3, 2009.

The Future is Now
Welcome to the inaugural post on the newest feature of the Garfield Messenger: the blog. Media is going digital (or, depending on your point of view, has already gone) and we here at the Messenger are following suit. Expect this blog to be updated periodically in these last few days of school and over the summer. I, in turn, shall expect you to faithfully visit us through cyberspace.
Our entrance into the world of online media offers several advantages over the medieval days of exclusively print publication, and we plan to utilize these. Expect more news stories posted in real time. Expect more timely movie reviews. Expect more articles, some of them online-exclusive.
As for this blog, I hope that it will function as a conversation between Messenger staff and you, our readers. We will be posting to update you on our news, plans, ideas, opinions and questions. Any general feedback or critique that you have will be welcomed.
Now, direct your mouse to the “Favorites” button, generally located in the top left region of the page. Add this site.
That felt good, didn’t it? See you back here soon.
