Julian’s Mixtape

“Public Service Announcemet” – Jay-Z
To me, this is the best song ever by the best rapper alive (not Lil’ Wayne). Like Ché Guevara with bling on, he’s COMPLEX!

“Phone Tap” – The Firm
Nas, Nature and AZ kill this song from the jump. Produced by beat maker numero uno of all time, Dr. Dre, who had the brilliant idea to use the phone line effect.

“Zealots” – Fugees
Greatest group assembled and the fastest group to break up. Lauryn Hill’s untouchable vocals, Wyclef Jeans’s way of taunting the magazines, and Pras Michel’s ridiculous and complex flow give this trio the most masterful chemistry in history.

“Déjà Vu” – Lord Tariq & Peter Guns
In 1998, New York was slowly falling off the map, and it had been a very long time since someone put out an anthem to rep the place where it all started, but then these two unknowns stepped in and put every borough back on the map.

“Can I Live” – Jay-Z
The best song on the best album by the best rapper alive (once again, not Lil’ Wayne). He is untouchable with his flow and there are so many lines that are buried deep inside it. Reasonable Doubt is arguably the best rap album and got on the Five-Mic List for a reason.

“On My Block” – Scarface
The original gangster rapper, no contest. He describes his life in the Southside of Houston, Texas makin’ his mark. The beat is mad good and he takes his flow back to ‘94 when he earned his first solo Five-Mic spot.

“Under the Bridge” – Red Hot Chili Peppers
Had to have one rock song on here. The build up on this song is unmatched by anything in my library except the three in “One Mic.”

“Shook Ones Pt. 2” – Mob Deep
Ain’t no such thing as halfway crooks. Havoc and Prodigy go way too hard on the world with this song, and it alone earned them one of the top-rated albums of all time.

“Kick in the Door” – The Notorious B.I.G.
Best rapper ever? Probably. Downin’ all the mad rappers, a.k.a. HATERS!

  1. DJ Sureal says:

How is the Fugees the greatest group assembled? Over Wu-Tang, De La, ATCQ, EPMD, Run DMC, NWA, Souls of Mischief, Pharcyde, Geto Boys, Little Brother, Gangstarr, Eric B. & Rakim, Ultramagnetic MC’s, Black Moon, Smif-N-Wessun, Black Sheep, LOTUG, The Lox, D12, Public Enemy, The Roots, Outkast, Goodie Mobb, Slum Village and I can go on…The Fugees are really better than all these groups? Come on now! Quantify that statement!
